South Jordan is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah. It is part of the Salt Lake City, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area. South Jordan has been one of the fastest-growing cities in Utah since the early 1990s.
Kennecott Land, a land development company, has recently begun construction on the master-planned Daybreak Community for the entire western half of South Jordan. This community could potentially double South Jordan's population. South Jordan is also the first city in the world with two LDS temples (Jordan River Temple and Oquirrh Mountain Temple).
Today, South Jordan's most distinctive and recognizable landmark, visible from miles around, is the LDS Jordan River Temple overlooking the open space and protected green belts of the Jordan River Parkway. Though residential development in the Salt Lake valley has mushroomed, South Jordan is committed to preserving its natural beauty. and private groups to set aside a significant area for the South Jordan Riverway Wildlife Enhancement project.
