The city is home to the South Towne Center Shopping mall; Jordan Commons, a large entertainment complex, Sandy, Utahand is the location of the Southtowne Exposition Center, which regularly hosts conventions.

Sandy is particularly well known in the Salt Lake Valley for the high quality of life enjoyed by its citizens and its vibrant booming commercial growth. Yet, despite this growth, Sandy is a family community, where children attend nationally recognizedschools and where a myriad of cultural and family events dot the communtiy calendar.

With a growing economy, a low unemployment rate below three percent, a strong family atmosphere, a variety of recreational and cultural options, as well as their conservative management style of the City's administration, Sandy City is primed for a very bright, prosperous and optimistic future.

Although the fourth largest community in Utah, Sandy enjoys one of the state's lowest crime rates. This is due primarily to a strong commitment to law enforcement staffing and training, as well as our community oriented policing program. Sandy citizens also enjoy the most extensive trails and parks programs in the state; not to mention a youth and adult recreation program which boasts more than 20,000 participants annually. These recreational options are enhanced by Sandy's proximity to several of the nation's fines ski resorts, as well as some of the country's most prestigious and famous national parks.

Our motto is "Sandy. . . Home of Healthy Families." In keeping with this credo, the City participates actively in partnership with business, religious organizations, education and healthcare to promote healthy and safe lifestyles among our citizens.

In Sandy, we believe quality of life is directly tied to opportunities to explore, participate in, and just plain enjoy the Arts. Our citizens therefore enjoy an extensive arts program consisting of annual musicals and plays, concert, and educational programs. Sandy City will solidify its growing images as "Art Central" when it completes, within the next few years, the construction of both a large outdoor amphitheater and a cultural arts center.
