The City of Southlake has become one of the most vibrant communities in Northeast Tarrant County. As the community continues to grow, so does its diversity, and desire among relocating families. This is the epitome of small town living with access to large city amenities.

Southlake Town Square is a 130-acre, mixed-use development comprising retail, office, restaurant, entertainment, residential, and governmental uses. Internationally recognized, Southlake Town Square has become the downtown for the City of Southlake, a central business district for Northeast Tarrant County, and the community’s gathering place. Opened in March, 1999, Town Square currently encompasses 10 city blocks covering 54 acres.

Southlake Town Square demonstrates the successful application of key smart growth principles including a mix of land uses, compact building design, creation of a walkable environment with a distinct sense of place, and involving citizen and stakeholder participation in development decisions. The concept for Southlake Town Square grew from the community’s desire to create a “village center” as the heart of the community. Since its opening in 1999, Southlake Town Square has created community traditions with key events and festivals including Art in the Square, 4th of July Celebration, and Oktoberfest.

Southlake has a robust local economy while also serving as a gateway to major employment hubs in Fort Worth, Dallas and the Alliance Development. The City is home to national corporate citizens including Sabre and Verizon Wireless with many other major corporate facilities just minutes away.

Southlake offers year round activities for its residents. Throughout the summer, families gather in the Town Square for free music concerts every Saturday evening. Each Thursday night, the Town Square is the screening spot for popular G-rated movies under the stars. From newer releases like Finding Nemo to classics like the Swiss Family Robinson, the whole family will enjoy this outing. And several times throughout the year, the Tarrant Area Guild of Storytellers presents an old-fashioned program of telling tales in the twilight.

The largest employment sectors in the area are manufacturing, professional services and retail. Southlake's largest employers are mostly telecommunications firms such as Sabre, Carroll ISD, Tri-Dal and Verizon. The town's public schools are very well regarded. With an average of 18 students per teacher at both the elementary and secondary levels, the Southlake school district greatly exceeds the national average. The schools report higher test scores and graduation rates largely because of the extra attention that teachers are able to give their students. The district has been awarded seven consecutive awards from the Texas Education Agency for its exemplary standing in the state.

Southlake is a golf-lovers dream. The city boasts several parks, miles of walking trails, community centers, tennis centers, and numerous ball fields. Not too far is the Texas Motor Speedway, host to many NASCAR series races every year.
