Seguin, the county seat of Guadalupe County, is on Interstate Highway 10 and the Guadalupe River, thirty-five miles northeast ofSeguin, Texas

San Antonio in the central part of the county. The land is suited for agriculture and ranching and is rich in oil and minerals. The Guadalupe River, the San Marcos River, and two major creeks, Cibolo and Geronimo, flow through the region.

The city boasts having the largest pecan in the world….a sculpture which weighs over 1000 pounds!!!

Pecan is the singular tree nut that is native only to the United States.  The early settlers found them along the rivers, and the pecan became a part of their regular diet.  A pecan tree can grow to the age of 500 years, and have a spread of 120 feet!  They are used in yards and parks because they make wonderful shade trees as well as providing delicious nuts.  The city park of Seguin will produce 200,000 pounds of pecans each year to be enjoyed by the residents!

Downtown Seguin is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and includes 26 square blocks. Seguin is one of the oldest towns in the state. Many of the buildings in the downtown date back to the early 1900s and some date as far back as the days of the Republic of Texas. Downtown has a sprawling collection of commercial and public buildings, including two four-story hotel buildings and enjoyed the influence of prominent architects like J. Riely Gordon, Atlee B. Ayers, and Alfred Giles.

Seguin is a town small enoughto have a friendly feeling . . . where the tree-lined streets are graced by Queen Anne homes and charming bungalows. This is a community of comfortable neighborhoods  where families live among people of all ages, incomes, and backgrounds.

Seguin is home to one of the country's finest liberal arts colleges, Texas Lutheran University, and boasts of a fine school system and a first-rate hospital.
