New Braunfels, Texas

New Braunfels, the county seat of Comal County, is at the confluence of the Guadalupe and Comal rivers and the intersection of Interstate Highway 35 and Farm Road 725, thirty miles northeast of San Antonio and forty-five miles southwest of Austin near the southeastern border of the county. New Braunfels, Texas Landa Park

Referred to as the "City of a Prince", New Braunfels was founded in 1845 by a German nobleman.  This heritage continues today, as one-third of the town's population consists of German descendants.

This is a unique town rich in culture and heritage with a never-ending array of things to do, see, eat and enjoy.  There are events and festivals year around for every taste and interest...and who doesn't love that?  From tubing the beautiful Comal and Guadalupe Rivers to a day at America's favorite waterpark Schlitterbahn to strolling the Downtown District with it's galleries, antique stores and specialty boutiques to relaxing in gorgeous Landa Park you will fall in love with the charm of New Braunfels

Landa Park has both a man-made Olympic pool and a gorgeous swimming hole that rivals Barton Springs. Both are spring-fed. There is a large bathhouse, built in 1937 by the Works Progress Administration, with showers, dressing rooms and full amenities. The Olympic pool is surrounded by concrete and grass. Shade is provided by giant umbrellas over picnic tables.

In addition, the Comal River has been dammed in several areas throughout the park, creating small wading pools where you can splash with the geese. Landa Park's amenities have been extremely well-incorporated into the natural landscape. The grounds are beautiful and seem to go on forever.

Landa Park also has an 18-hole golf course and miniature golf course. A miniature train runs around the 200-acre park. Twenty-five-acre Landa Lake is serene, and glass-bottom boats, paddleboats and rowboats can be rented and taken out on the water. There are hiking and nature trails, tennis courts, a recreation center, picnic areas, playscapes and sand volleyball. Landa Park has everything!

New Braunfels has 13 Parks for you enjoyment. These parks total 300 acres and include 18-hole & miniature golf courses, an arboretum, nature trails, paddle boats, playground, picnic areas, mini-train rides, Olympic & Spring-fed pools, recreation center, historical areas, soccer & softball fields, "tube" chute, concessions, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts. With all there is to do, you are all but guaranteed to not get bored it this beautiful setting.

But parks aren't all that we have, arts and entertainment are plentiful in this historic town, which boasts the nation's "most popular" water park, Schlitterbahn.  For the more adventurous, Natural Bridge Caverns and Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch provide interesting alternatives to the Lindheimer Home and Gruene Historical District, both havens for history buffs.
