Honor Heights Park Muskogee's’s main tourist attraction is Honor Heights Park welcoming over half a million visitors each year. It is listed as one of the Top Ten sites to visit in America. The summer will find the park grounds graced by performances of the Tulsa Philharmonic. During the Christmas season the park becomes transformed as the azaleas, along with the trees and other shrubbery becomes draped with over one million individual lights. The “Garden of Lights” draws as many visitors through December as the azaleas themselves do in April.
Muskogee is home to the only school that is solely devoted to blind. The Oklahoma School for the Blind provides education options for blind or visually impaired students from infancy to age 21, and currently there are 120 students enrolled. There are presently three higher education institutions located in Muskogee. Bacone College is the oldest school of continuous education in Oklahoma and has been in Muskogee since 1885. Northeastern State University is serving the Muskogee community by expanding educational opportunities through basic skills, lifelong learning, and college degrees. Connors State College is convenient, affordable two year institution building futures one at a time.
