There are many attractions around Mooresville. The Blue Ridge Mountains begin along the western edge of the region and the descent (the fall line) to the coastal plain begins along the eastern edge. Amid this varied topography, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens and several state parks (Morrow Mountain, Crowders Mountain, South Mountains, Duke Power, Landsford Canal, Andrew Jackson) offer recreational possibilities, along with the Uwharrie National Forest just east and northeast of Albemarle, and the Sumter National Forest at the southwest corner of the area. Kings Mountain National Military Park is partially located in York County and in Cherokee County near Blacksburg, South Carolina.

The Mooresville Recreation and Parks Department want Mooresville residents to come and enjoy our facilities and programs. To help provide you with activities during your leisure hours, we offer nine (9) parks that contain a variety of activities. We have seven (7) tennis courts, eight (8) basketball courts, six (6) lighted ball fields, and a gym for basketball and volleyball. We offer many youth programs, including baseball from T-Ball to Colt leagues, softball from minor to junior leagues, basketball for boys 7-18 years old and for gifts 7-18 years old. We also have adult leagues for softball, basketball, and volleyball. Our War Memorial Building houses various civic groups and community classes. The War Memorial Center and Winnie L. Hooper Community Center offer summer programs for youths, well as special programs for adults. Our Ceramics House has a helpful and friendly staff eager to help you wMooresville, North Carolinaith this fun craft year-round. Don't forget our Working Fingers craft snow in November. These are just a few of the things the Recreation and Parks Department has to offer.

The Mooresville Public Library provides educational, informational, recreational, and cultural resources for people of all ages and interests. In addition to current fiction and non-fiction books, the library offers magazines and newspapers, large-print materials, educational videos, foreign-language materials, books on tape, and our North Carolina collection. There is a trained staff to guide patrons in the location and use of all materials and reference services.

The Town of Mooresville has a regulation par-72 golf course open to the public year-round as a self-supporting department of the Town. A P.G.A. golf professional manages the golf operation which has a driving range, snack bar, and pro shop, plus a conference/meeting room. Lessons, tournaments, and various clinics are staged throughout the year for a nominal fee. Tee times are required. The Mooresville Golf Club has approximately 50,000 rounds played annually and adds greatly to the over-all recreational opportunities offered by the Town of Mooresville.
