Concord, North Carolina is located in Cabarrus County. It is the county seat of Cabarrus County and a winner of the All-American City Award in 2004.

When the new county of Cabarrus was formed, there was controversy over the selection of the county seat. Finally, a compromise was reached and a new city was formed in 1796. The city was to be locatedon a 26 acre site and was to be called Concord, which means harmony. The founders felt the name appropriate since there was a comingtogether of the two factions to create the city. Concord was incorporated in 1806.

Concord is home to Lowe's Motor Speedway; a NASCAR Researchand Development Office; several professional race teams, including Hendrick Motorsports, Roush Fenway Racing, and Chip Ganassi Racing.
