Blue Springs offers a tremendous parks system encompassing 14 parks and over 300 acres. Lighted baseball, softball and tennis courts are available with playground equipment, shelter houses and restroom facilities nearby. The Centennial Pool-Plex, a two pool complex with a removable roof for year-round swimming, is open to the public for instruction, lap swimming and all types of water fun. The Parks and Recreation Department handles all reservations for the parks and offers picnic kits with sporting equipment to help make your outing even more special. Blue Springs BMX track is located in Pink Hill Park and has full competition tournaments.
Additionally, the Jackson County Parks system, including Lake Jacomo and Blue Springs Lake, adds another 3,000 acres of park land to our area. Both lakes have full-service marines, swimming beaches and shelter house facilities. Campsites are also available.
Golf facilities are available both in and around Blue Springs. The City of Blue Springs has opened Adams Pointe Golf Club, an 18 hole public golf course. The Country Club of Blue Springs has an 18-hole private cours., Bent Oak Golf Club in Oak Grove is an 18-hole public course. For practice we have Family Golf Park with a lighted driving range, a 3 par - 9 hole golf course, heated tee, grass tees, sand trap, chipping area and putting green. They also offer miniature golf, a concession area, party area and golf shop.
Schools include 12 elementary schools, four middle schools, a freshman center and two high schools. The curriculum is evaluated on a regular basis and is geared to teaching life skills and preparing the student for either continuing education or entry into the work force.
