Rockville is the county seat of Montgomery County, Maryland. It is the third largest city in Maryland. It is 12 miles Northwest of downtown Washington, D.C., and 35 miles southwest of Baltimore. The city is also an employment center, with approximately 54,500 jobs.

Rockville is both a residential community and employment center. It is home to many businesses including bio-tech and high-tech firms and several government agencies.

Rockville's historical and architectural value is nationally recognized.
