Catonsville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Baltimore County, Maryland. Catonsville is bordered by Woodlawn to the north, by Baltimore to the east, by Elkridge to the south, and by Ellicott City to its west.

Catonsville is the home of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a public research university with over 12,000 students.

Catonsville offers the advantage of convenient access to Baltimore City combined with the beauty and peacefulness of the suburbs of Baltimore County. The western edge of Catonsville is bordered by the Patapsco River, and includes part of the beautiful and serene Patapsco Valley State Park. Also close by to Catonsville are Historic Ellicott City and the city of Columbia.

Our public elementary and secondary schools are among the best in Baltimore County, offering gifted and talented educational programs and a multitude of learning activities.

This museum and park pays tribute to the African-American astronomical, mathematical, and agricultural pioneer Benjamin Banneker (1731-1806) who lived most of his life in a one-room log home in Southern Baltimore County.

During the summer come and enjoy the Annual Catonsville July 4th Parade and Fireworks Celebrations. This is one of Catonsville's premiere attractions for both local residents and area visitors. The Annual Independence Day Celebrations run throughout the day around Catonsville.
