Streamwood is a village of Cook County, Illinois. It is a suburb of Chicago. Streamwood, along with Bartlett and Hanover Park, is one of the three communities that make up the so called "Tri Village" area. Streamwood enjoys a wide range of quality educational opportunities for its residents. The majority of the community is served by Elgin School District U-46. U-46 is a large and diverse school district, which offers a wide variety of programming from pre-school through high school. Streamwood is proud to house numerous neighborhood elementary schools, where most students walk to school, as well as two middle schools and Streamwood High School.

Although Streamwood is predominantly a residential community, it enjoys a thriving business community. The Village supports over 600 businesses. Lake Michigan water and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District waste water treatment are available to all commercial, industrial and residential properties within the Village.
