Hemet, California

Hemet is a city in Riverside County, located in the San Jacinto Valley, Hemet is situated about 35 miles southeast of Riverside, and approximately 15 miles east of Interstate 215 at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains.

The families are served by two school districts, which serve Hemet and the greater Hemet area. They are the Hemet Unified School District (HUSD), serving all but a small portion of the City and San Jacinto Unified School District (SJUSD).

A significant part of the population commutes up to 2 hours one way to outlying areas including Orange and San Diego Counties, Temecula, Riverside and San Bernardino. Shopping facilities are strategically located throughout the city, dominated by the Hemet Valley Mall in the Northwest section of the city, plus Home Depot, The Target shopping center and Wal-Mart located in the same area. Sprinkled throughout the city are a wide variety of traditional stores and restaurants servicing the community. The main streets running north and south are Florida and Stetson Avenues, and those running east and west are Sanderson, State, and San Jacinto. The city is off the beaten path, and while it isn't totally "life in the slow lane", life is much more relaxed than that of our more "metropolitan" neighbors. Hemet is a friendly town and an easy area to move around in.
