Old Main, the oldest building on campus, is the “mother” of all the other buildings of the University of Arkansas. Initially it was called “the University building.” In 1895, it was given a name that lasted the longest—University Hall—although for many years thereafter it was affectionately called “Old Main.” The Board of Trustees corrected this in 1991 when, after a major renovation, it officially changed the name to Old Main.
The city is served by Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Highfill, Arkansas. The airport also serves Springdale, Arkansas, Bentonville, Arkansas (home to Wal-Mart), Rogers, Arkansas, and all of Northwest Arkansas.

The Public School System in Prairie Grove is superb. Academic requirements are high and a robust sports program is also available. The school buildings are located on a campus at the north end of town and are not more than a 5 minute drive from any place within the city limits. School buses serve the outlying areas and generally provide, as school lets out in the afternoons, the only thing that even approaches a traffic jam in our little community.
The city has opened an Aquatic Park within the last 2 years that would be the envy of many larger towns. There is a large pool, a children's pool, play area and water slide. Next to the pool is a new city park which features several ball fields and walking trails.
As one moves out from the edges of town, you can find many things to do. Within 3 miles of the city limits, there are 2 fishing lakes. Prairie Grove Lake, 3 miles to the south, is a small lake restricted to boats with no motors. It supplies much of the city's drinking water and some good crappie fishing. Three miles to the west is Bob Kidd Reservoir, home to a Bass Fishing Club and some very nice size bass. Prairie Grove also sits in the middle of good hunting country. There are several seasons each year such as bow, black powder and modern gun. About 20 miles to the south is Devil's Den State Park featuring a small lake, canoeing, fishing and some of the most beautiful walking trails you will find anywhere in the country. About 20 miles to the Northwest is Lake Wedington, yet another superb outdoor recreation area. Just to the east of town is a new golf course with new homes lining the fairways.
Fayetteville is a clean, very appealing small city with many parks and green space areas resulting from and nurtured by strict development regulations and a goal of keeping the city looking green and pretty.
