Mobile is the third most populous city in the state of Alabama and is the county seat of Mobile County.  Mobile offers the amenities and infrastructure of a major metropolitan area, it has retained its sense of community and friendliness.  The City of Mobile has a 300 year history thMobile, Alabama - Cooper Riverside Parkat provides citizens and tourists alike a year full of activities and attractions. The City of Mobile has a beautiful variety of parks and recreation facilities in all areas for you to relax or host events. There are more than 66 parks and playgrounds in the Mobile area offering facilities for picnics, canoeing, biking, hiking, camping and other leisure activities.

At the heart of downtown’s booming business district is Bienville Square. As the center of many downtown events such as BayFest and Kids Days in Bienville, this park is loved for its massive oaks, bandstand and huge wrought-iron fountain. Nearby in the Arts District, Cathedral Square,designed as a performing arts park, is a perfect urban setting for outdoor concerts.

The area has a large parochial school system operated by the Catholic Archdiocese of Mobile and many other schools operated through churches or private boards, such as St. Paul's Episcopal School, St. Luke's Episcopal School and UMS-Wright Preparatory School. In all, there are more than 44 private and denominational schools in Mobile with an approximate enrollment of 14,750 students.

Mobile’s educational opportunities do not end with K-12. Several four-year colleges, community colleges and vocational schools keep Mobilians trained for the best jobs.

Mobile is a regional center for medical care, research and education. There are more than 850 physicians and 175 dentists practicing in the area and most are affiliated with one or more of nine hospitals serving Mobile. In addition, there are many outpatient surgical centers, emergency clinics, home health care services, assisted-living facilities and nursing homes.

The warmest month of the year is July with an average maximum temperature of 91.20 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is January with an average minimum temperature of 39.50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Temperature variations between night and day tend to be fairly limited during summer with a difference that can reach 19 degrees Fahrenheit, and moderate during winter with an average difference of 22 degrees Fahrenheit.
